Reed Exhibitions Africa and ReedPOP announced that it would be partnering with Telkom VS Gaming. For the second consecutive year to bring the very best of esports to Comic-Con Africa. This will take place in September this year.

Telkom

Telkom VS Gaming, the official connectivity and gaming partner of Comic-Con Africa, will once again be hosting two Masters tournaments. One for South Africa’s leading competitive game, DOTA2. The other for the popular objective-based, multiplayer first-person shooter game, CS: GO. The 2018 tournament saw 16 teams compete to win the respective titles in front of thousands of esports fans. It also has the biggest prize money pool in South Africa.

“Last year’s Comic-Con Africa was such a huge success due to the incredible partnerships we had. Telkom VS Gaming has once again come on board to support us. Gaming is a massive focus for Comic-Con Africa. We saw the success last year of combining pop culture and esports. This opens esports up to an even wider audience that attends Comic Con Africa,” says Carol Weaving, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions.

A Decade of Esports

“We have been supporting esports for more than a decade and we are looking forward to the second Comic-Con Africa partnership. Through this partnership, we get to showcase our Masters’ players and the Telkom VS gaming league.  Telkom’s extensive high-speed fiber network provides the platform for real-time gaming, enhanced access, and spectator experience,” says Erna Korff Telkom’s Managing Executive, mobile and products.
