Primal follows a caveman at the dawn of evolution and a dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, the two creatures, one on the way out and one on the way in, become each other’s only hope of survival in a treacherous world.
The hit series has an 8.7/10 score on IMDb and a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus is, “Epic in every sense, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal is a stunning feat of visual storytelling.”
Legendary
Done by the legendary Tarakovsy who has already won Emmys for Samurai Jack (yes that one) and Star Wars Clone Wars (do I even need to). Let’s not forget childhood noirs Dexters Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls. And how do we not consider Hotel Tansylvania. But Primal feel so much different.
Visually it is truly a unique piece of storytelling. Inspired by nature itself and it’s brutality. There is no big bad, just the Spear and the Fang. Man against nature. Appeal to our most Primal nature. And there you go…. the most important draw card for the show is it’s pure simplicity. No wonder it has a score of 8.7 on IMBD and is sitting on 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. More amazing is the fact it is vocal free. Primal relies solely o. It’s visuals which are mesmerizing. Sure there is the occasional grunt and the almost quite score. But when it comes down to crunch time the visuals are taking names…
The first five episodes of Primal premiered on the Adult Swim corner on Showmax in April 2020. Now you can catch the remaining five episodes every Monday, just 24 hours after the US premiere, first and exclusive on Showmax. Primal has just been renewed for a 10-episode second season in 2021.
