Ms Marvel has been a beautiful surprise for us all. It is the freshest offering since Thor: Ragnorak. For as far back as I can remember fans have been calling for diversity in comic book movies. Marvel delivered this to us with Kamala Khan. A very brown girl whose very much American but from a very traditional Muslim family with deep roots in Pakistan. All this was done while serving the MCU and comic book elements, while at the same time honouring the culture of Muslims. The family is painted in a very realistic light. Neither flawed or flawless, like most of our families regardless of our ethnicity or religion.

Captain Marvel

But the show is still a comic book show, and as such requires a cameo by a more established character. The obvious choice is of course Captain Marvel. As we have seen Carol Danvers is Kamala’s favourite Avenger and she idolises her. The passion is so deep she bases her own superhero persona on her.

It makes sense for a young girl to look up to the strongest female Avenger. Captain Marvel emulates all the right qualities of what a role model should be. Her cameo would of course be a huge deal for Ms Marvel (played by Iman Vellani) and her experience would do well to help the young hero understand what it takes to be a real hero.

But What About Spidey?

While Carol would make the most sense, Peter Parker may be the better choice. He is much closer to her age. More than anybody else he knows what it feels like to be blessed and burdened with powers at a young age. He would be much more relatable than the captain.

Let us not forget how alone Parker is right now. Having made the huge sacrifice he did, he is completely alienated from the world. He may need her as much as she may need him. More than that it will help Peter get back to his roots as the friendly neighbourhood hero. It is a key part of who he is. Or who he used to be. He lost that essence as he battled across the galaxy and multiverse. Having him return to his roots could be exactly what the Web-Head needs right now.

This would also help Spider-Man develop his leadership abilities all while finding some degree of comfort. For Ms Marvel, having someone closer to her age would help her come to terms with dealing with her new responsibilities and powers. Let us not forget that a brief team up between Ms Marvel and Spider-Man could be visually spectacular.

End Credits

While I would settle for this being an end credit, I think that honour should go to Captain Marvel and lead into the Marvels movie. Sticking to my dream cameo of Spider-Man, he should ideally get an episode third act, or even better a full-on joint episode.

Team Ups have always been a comic book thing, and this is a perfect opportunity to develop that very well loved trope.
