Epic Games the holding company of Fortnite pulls tech giants Apple and Google in to a different battle arena. The arena of course is the court of law. That’s right, Epic games is suing both company on ground of anti-trust.

It all started when Epic created a new method of buying in game currency for the highly popular Fornite game. This allowed users to buy the currency out of app from Epic themselves. The new method was understandably self serving as it help negate the 30% cut that either app stores would take away. This undermines both Apples and Google Plays terms and conditions.

The battle heated up when Epic started taking media jabs at Apple and in retaliation the fruit logo company removed Fortnite from the store. This has lead to the current legal battle that is about to go down. Apple and Google are now being accused of trying to monopolize the market with self serving interests. These fees are designed to destabilise competition and make it less profitable. This helps push each company’s own version or alternates of similar ip forward. Well that’s the claim anyway.
While Apples strict terms helps produce better and safer apps, does their payment system betray fair competition? We will soon find out.
