The experience of a visit to the comic book store is quite unparalleled. It doesn’t matter if you been collecting forever or just a little curious. There will always be something that catches your curiosity. For me, the greatest joy is flipping through the back issues and finding a comic I wasn’t missing for my collection. It does t even have to be the dreaded “grail” or even a rare book. Just that simple missing issue that completes the arc. But that little joy often came at a hefty cost. A trip to Johannesburg or worse Cape Town. Don’t get me wrong, I love those trips and visits to those shops. Will always do. But deep down I also wanted something down the road. Somewhere to take that random drive, meet some similar-minded people, have a chat and score a comic and come home.

Dream Can Come True

Well, it seems my prayers have been answered. My dear friends at Project Mayhem have taken it next level and will be opening a physical store to complement the successful online store. Based at the Oxford shopping complex in the peaceful Hillcrest. Doors open on 26th June 2021. (Covid Conditions apply) They have a very cool layout ready for you.

Project Mayhem has been in the business for a decade now and has built a solid clientele as well as a strong footprint in the social circles. Having hosted numerous movie premiers and memorable Halloween festivals they are well-known and trusted establishments. Now with a permanent location, we can expect plenty more of these fun-filled days. Who could ever forget the last Free Comic Day?

Goodies and More Goodies

The store will have a wide selection of collectibles for all wallet sizes and the payment plans are also available in store. The big difference is the showcase. Yes, the store will have many of the high-end collectibles opened and on display. This is huge. The biggest concerns most collectors have is, what item is really like without the fancy editing and lighting brings to the pictures. These are big investments after all. Having the opportunity to view these items up close will help make your decision easier. Or maybe you can just go to enjoy their beauty.

Project Mayhem will be stocking some fan-favorite brands like Marvel Select, Mcfarlane, and DC collectibles. But like I said earlier they will have some of the most premier items opens and on display. From the Iron Studios range all the up to XM studios. The latter being displayed in Moducase.

Regardless Of what you collect or don’t collect, go check out the store. It’s an experience. They have put a lot of love and hard work into getting this store off the ground. There are a lot more surprises still to come, so keep your eyes peeled on their social channels. And don’t forget to make your to their store this weekend. Who knows, you may meet a few people or find that missing comic too.

See you this weekend at Project Mayhem, Hillcrest.
